From the Beginning
Cody Brutlag is a senior electronic media major at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. Through his course of study, he has had the opportunity to work extensively with video and other various media to create news stories, music videos, and motion graphics for film and television. Brutlag also participated in Midstate Magazine, Bradley University’s half-hour news program. During his time with the show, he has been a news anchor, sports anchor, reporter, videographer, and graphics designer. He has also completed several print projects, including photo composites and vector images. Most recently, Brutlag created graphics for a video project spearheaded by a production coordinator for the show “24” on Fox. The completed video, designed for a kitten rescue shelter, was displayed at the 2009“Fur Ball at the Skirball” event in Los Angeles, hosted by The Office’s Jenna Fischer.
Work Experiences
Cody Brutlag has had several priceless opportunities in the professional world while attending college. He has been employed at WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois for more than three years as an Associate Producer. At the station, Brutlag was responsible for cutting video for the 5, 6, 9, and 10 o’clock newscasts; some of his other duties have included writing stories, producing news pieces, and updating web content. He also interned as a creative services assistant with the Bakersfield Condors hockey team in Bakersfield, California. As a member of the front office team, Brutlag created game-day motion graphics for the arena using Adobe After Effects and also produced videos for the Condors.tv website.
